Point of Hopes
A reluctant three stars. The writing wasn't bad at all but the book moved very very slow. The world building was original, a world based on astrology. That I liked and I liked the personages in the story too but as I said, the plot moved a bit slow. Like an old fashioned who dunnit. A lot of collected titbits solved the mystery of the missing children.
Something that annoyed me that there were white lines missing between paragraphs so it wasn't clear when the storymoved to another character.
And this is not a romance novel at all, despite all the main characters being male. Not that it bothered me but some people might.
Afterimage (In the Company of Shadows, #2)
I have read the other reviews on this book and I agree in parts and I don't. First of all it is not a romance book with all the trappings that comes with it. So no happy end, it has a very very tentatively hfn. So that will put pure romance readers off. It could have been shorter on that I agree on. But as I lover of long books I didn't mind.
And the major difference with the first book is that it has a lot less action in. So that make it a quieter read, no adrenaline rush.
Still making my mind up what I think of the white rabbit that popped up in the last pages of this book. I'll wait and see what happens in book 3.
Evenfall (In the Company of Shadows, #1)
That was quite a ride. I haven't enjoyed reading like this in a long while. The 1089 pages this book was on my reader didn't feel that much at all. The pace of the story went up and down. I am curious to learn more about this after WWIII world and the characters that were introduced in the first book.
Burden
This was a very enjoyable story. I love books with cops in them. This was my first book by this writer and I will certainly pick up her next book.
Chase the Storm
Very enjoyable read. I quite like the way how the writer used the repetiveness of the work on a farm to show how the relationship between the two changed an developed. Anyone who is familiar with farm live knows how repetive the live is. I have two uncles with cow milking farms and the cows need to be milked twice a day, every day of the year.
So I could relate to that aspect of the story.
I will certainly read other books of this writer.
Love Me Back To Life
It was ok, but I did not like it. I didn't feel the characters and the story was too much, too quick for such a short timespan. If I must say the whole book is ML Rhodes unworthy.

Infected: Undertow
I like the series and I like Roan. I do not like Dylan although I might have warmed up to him from -20C to -15C. You must admire him for his persistance. And seeing how much Roan still thinks of Paris or gets reminded by him. One wonders what Roan does with Dylan. Anyways I did not feel that this book was adding something to the series apart from the Holden story line. He and Scott are cute together.
I got the feeling somehting major was going to happen but it never did. So all in all it was nice to read about Roan again but I wasn't satisfied when finishing the book.
Maybe the next one will.
Chasing The King of the Mountains
It was fun to see a book based on something that really has happened. Two years ago a dutch cyclist was driven into the barbwire by a car from the Tour organisation. I love the Tour de France but I can imagine if you are not familiar with it and the whole media circus that surrounds it then the book will feel different to you.
The story itself was entertaining not much wrong with it. Nicely written and flowed well. Also nice that it is set over a longer period.
The Apothecary's Garden
I like the writing of if. It was impeccable as always but I could not get into this may-decembre relationship. Hilary is exactly the same age as my dad and it was hard to get by that fact. I guess I never did. As a historian I loved the restoration work on the garden but that was about the only thing that worked for me. That and the writing.

Lover At Last: A Novel of the Black Dagger Brotherhood
I have three stars but the more I think of this book the more I am tempted to take a star of. There was so much more going on in this book then just the story of B&Q that it takes the whole focus away from them.
One could say that for the m/m haters, eeh dislikers, they can buy this book, skip their story and just read the plot. There would be about 550 pages left of the book.
This is one case where I would have liked less plot and more about the "main" characters and their immediate friends. Where was John? Where was the scribe virgin, the mating ceremony, the lube, Wraths' and all the others views on this couple?
In almost the whole book just when things started to get interesting between B&Q the chapter ends and the story goes Xcor, Layla or Assail. I don't care! Certainly not for these story lines. The only one I like to see concluded, in a positive way, is Wrath's keeping the throne one.
As for the romance plot, one decent conversation in chapter two would have solved all B&Qs' problems.
So all in all I am disappointed. I wonder what a real m/m paranormal writer would have made from this story.
Over The Rainbow (Watchtower, #1)
Liked this one. Interesting world building, not so much inventive as nicely done and befitting the story. This is not really a romance story, more a fantasy tale with a dash of m/m romance added. I would like to see more of those.
Good start to the series, hopes they will be of the same quality.
Black Magic
I thought it a great read. Interesting world building and characters. I just love the way Megan writes books maybe I am bit too much of a fangurl to see any faults in her books. This is a full lenght novel, lucky for me.
Infected: Lesser Evils
husband?? Dylan?? what? No way! Now I remember the husband part again. Still don't like it.
As for the book, I am on the fence. It doesn't feel like a well rounded story. The mysteries are not that interesting and feel like a repeat of the ones in the last books.
Highlights are Holden and the hockey boys.
Still like the writing style but I am waiting for the day Dylan leaves the story. And what happens halfway the book? She lost me there for a few chapters, luckily there are loads.
Purgatory: A Novel of the Civil War
It is harsh, tough, brutal, chilling and all that but it is also painfully moving and tender. Set in a very realistic civil war era, nothing like Gone with the wind. Tomorrow isn't another day. it could mean the difference between live and death. So all people in search of beach reading, keep on looking. If you want something well written and gritty but with a happy end of sorts, you have found it.
